Hi Crystal :D Thank you so much for this great opportunity Very nice interview!
(Isis Sousa) (As Cold As Thorns – Book #1)

Where were you born and where do you call home?
I was born in the North-East of Brazil, and as a toddler moved to the South East (very far away since Brazil is a continental country), growing up in São Paulo city. For the past 6 years I have been living in mid-Norway – again, moving far away from where I lived before!). Home is where I live, regardless of its location. Home is also the place I share with whom I love.

What or who inspired you to write?  And how long have you been writing?
That’s a complicated answer… I will try to simplify it :P Art has inspired me to write. I am an illustrator and I tell stories through images. However, even though an image can tell a 1000 words, it cannot tell you all the information that lies behind a character. I once gave myself a chance to write a story just to see how it would be, and thought about publishing it just to see what would happen. I asked myself: why not? That story was The Night of Elisa, in 2012. There was no turning back after that experience. I write because I have characters that weave stories into my mind, not because I like the craft ;)

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Never… I don’t think that day will ever come :P Artist, however, I have been since I was born, I think.

What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 30 or less words, what would you say?
My most recent book is As Cold As Thorns – I have newer stories in mind, but those still need to be written! Wow, really hard to sum it  up in 30 or less words!!! I will try: “The Mystery of The Black Rose and the artist who was obsessed with it. A tale of love, coldness and wonder through the life and mind of a young tailor.

I love reading the warnings on the blurbs for many books. If you could write a warning label for yourself as a person or an author, what would it say?
What a fun question! It would say “Careful: This person is artist, dreamer and a nerd who is utterly uninterested in trends and that which is popular.”

Which character speaks the loudest, to you? Do any of them clamor to be heard over the others?

Yes. For the past year, it has been Henrique, lead on As Cold As Thorns. He fascinates me with his intricate personality. I feel like Lord Henry about Dorian Gray in the classic story. I am a fan of his work (the best tailor the world has seen at his time) and his ego, so self-confident. His dark side is equally alluring as the love he nurtures for those closest to him. I also like him a lot because he is not a hero and I admire his daring nature. I wish I had more of his qualities; perhaps I’d be a more successful person today if I were more like him :)

I am an artist; illustrator and graphic designer who writes on my free time. But with all the imagination I have running lose, there came some stories… And there came some books! I am born and grown up in Brazil, however I live in Mid-Norway with my beloved husband, in a tiny valley surrounded by mountains and with very few neighbors.

When I’m not doing artwork and illustration for clients, I’m doing woodcarving, painting ornaments, painting artworks for myself, and so on. Love Arts, History and Metal.
