Book Blurb: Truth or dare…

When Lacey Garrity finds her groom in flagrante delicto in the reception hall closet with her bridesmaid, she's saved by her best friend’s older brother—childhood tormentor, crush, and boxing bad boy Galen Thomas. Galen’s solution is both exciting and dangerous. What better way to forget the mess of her life than go on her honeymoon with a hot guy who can’t promise anything beyond today?

Galen had been counting on Lacey's wedding to put her out of reach—and out of his mind—once and for all, but their steamy Puerto Rican escape is testing all his boundaries. Now that Lacey’s embracing her inner bad girl, Galen is tempted to throw in the towel and claim her for himself. But with the biggest fight of his career on the line and an important business merger threatening to derail Lacey’s resolve, their romance might be down for the count before it even begins

My Rant: This was an amazing Story as is definitely going in my favorites list.  Down for the count was a quick read but completely filled emotions, comedy, eroticism and action. Down for the count started of with a gut punch to the stomach when Lacey found her husband plowing a woman at her wedding reception. WTF, literally at their wedding reception right after they just got married. That was completely a low blow and as the referee begins to step in you begin to think Lacey was about to recover, and bam she is hit with a TKO, because the women who her husband was banging happen to be her best friend from childhood.

THAT’S IT, the gloves are coming off and at this point I want to be right beside Lacey as she gives the deceitful twit the beating of her life. I am so upset at this point I want to hit the wall and almost did. Thank God I didn’t (my hands are thanking me), because Lacey ended up being the bigger person and walking away with her head held up high but inside she felt like crap and so did I.  When Lacey began to mentally beat herself down I just couldn’t take it anymore, I was crying so hard my eyes were puffy.

Cat comes in and is protective as a mom to a cub and begins to lighten up the story because she is funny as all get-up. My anger begins to dissipate a little but completely vanishes when Whalen Galen Thomas came into the picture.

Galen made me forget how made I was, and you all know how much I love sexy male characters especially one with a Greek like body that oozed with sex appeal. What started out as a friend doing another friend a favor by helping them cope through their troubles turn out to be the most erotic and emotional roller-coaster ride.

You got to see Lacey work through some of her inhibitions because she was so closed off. She was so used to conforming to what everyone else wanted her to be especially the general, Lacey’s wicked mother from the west. Her mother was an inhibitor completely. A witch on wheel would be my exact terminology for her. Lacey was so used to conforming to her mother that she forgot who she was in the process. The author does a great job at displaying Lacey’s weaknesses and vulnerability throughout the story. You struggle with Lacey; you feel her emotions as she tries to rationalize with the way her life is turning out. I can tell you that it wasn’t easy because Lacey was set in her ways and when you do something so repetitive it becomes a habit that is hard to break. As Lacey begins to come into her own, you begin to feel proud of her because she realizes that she is more that what she has given herself credit for but she still struggled with her feeling for Galen.  I am completely screaming at the kindle. Look lacey snap out of hit, Galen is hot what the hell is wrong with you. Get it together already chick.

The author begins to work on Galen’s resolve and displays his emotions that he kept hidden by the invisible wall he put up to protect him self. But as Galen try effortlessly to help Lacey work through her issues he began to let his guard down and Lacey step close enough to deliver a 2-piece combo to the heart he was not expecting and as he drops to the asphalt unconscious the referee begins to count it down.……..(TKO).   I am jumping up and down because I am so excited that Galen is falling for Lacey. You begin to get Giddy over the fact that Lacey and Galen are falling in love with each other and when they get together their relationship is explosive. Especially when the erotic scenes begin to burn up the pages, like gasoline on a fire, someone get me some water before I go up in flames here. Lol.

As soon as you think the couple has worked out all their issues something else happens to drive a wedge between them and your left feeling numb because of all the tension that is created by their insecurities and at this point your heart is shattered into tiny pieces and you are stuck looking around for all the shard pieces to put it back together.

As you get to the climax of the book you are an emotional wreck but your ready for a rematch and your resolve is set to go another 12 rounds and boy does the author make you work for this victory. My palms are sweaty and I am fatigued but I feel satisfied that I stuck it out and fought to the end for my fairy tale ending.

My Recommendation:

I gave this book 5 out of 5 purple rant hearts. This story was funny, erotic and quite the tearjerker at times but it was an amazing story and I would recommend this book to anyone one that reads erotic contemporary romance stories.
